As reported from Kenya, Kenya Power has announced plans for the construction of a 85 km transmission line between Narok and Bomet that will connect western Kenya with the geothermal fields and plants at Olkaria.

This is the second line to connect the region. The first one is currently being set up by Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco), scheduled for completion in September 2019.

This will provide a more stable power supply to the region and decrease its dependency on thermal power plants and imports from Uganda. The local hydro power plant has been less reliable due to irregular water supply.
